Job description :

A well-established company located in Montreal is seeking a Maintenance Director. Under the supervision of the Plant Director, you will be responsible for training personnel and ensuring the smooth execution of maintenance and repair operations in the production and building sectors.

The Maintenance Director ensures the proper functioning of all production equipment by overseeing all maintenance-related operations, as well as the performance, hygiene, and safety conditions of the equipment. This role also includes managerial responsibilities, as you will be leading a team of supervisors (mechanics, electromechanics, and planners) and engineers. You will also participate in cost optimization and continuous improvement projects. Finally, you will oversee projects related to the addition of new equipment or the improvement of existing equipment.

You will also be responsible for the preventive maintenance program, as well as managing spare parts inventory and purchases related to your department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the implementation and management of the preventive maintenance program, ensuring that the programs are regularly updated.
  • Manage the spare parts inventory, ensuring optimal levels are maintained to support operations.
  • Lead annual maintenance contracts and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure costs remain competitive while meeting service requirements.
  • Develop a maintenance schedule that aligns with standards, budget, and production constraints.
  • Manage the maintenance budget.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards during interventions.
  • Monitor technological advancements and propose improvements based on new technologies available.
  • Resolve breakdowns and malfunctions impacting production.
  • Write specifications for the acquisition of equipment (tools, parts, and services).
  • Implement a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Participate in the recruitment and management of the technical maintenance team.
  • Assess personnel and material needs to optimize operational efficiency.

Skills and qualifications :

  • University degree in engineering management with at least 5 years of experience in a similar industrial/manufacturing role.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in data management software, knowledge of technologies related to key production equipment, industrial processes, and production rhythms.
  • Proficiency in technical English is required for this position.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with good listening abilities and communication, as well as leadership qualities, are essential for this role.
  • Organizational skills, rigor, methodical approach, and the ability to react quickly to urgent situations will be necessary to ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of the company's production equipment.
